Do Rom-Coms Set Dating Expectations Too High?

Maybe you’re about to board a plane, when he comes running through the gate, announcing in front of everyone how you’re the one. Or you’re walking through the rain after an argument, and he comes running (again) after you, admitting that he’s realized he can’t live his life without you in it.

If these scenarios seem preposterous, that’s because they’re classic rom-com cliches. And yet, they have set the standard of romance for numerous women. Unfortunately, as a result, many men are finding that they can’t meet women’s expectations, because taking out the trash and offering to wash dishes just doesn’t carry the same amount of weight as pulling of a flash mob in front of  large crowd to profess your undying love.

It’s all about being realistic, ladies. After all, isn’t having a man in your life that you can see and touch better than the on-going fantasy relationship you keep having with Titanic’s Jack in your head?
